Can notaries provide legal advice?

I do get asked for guidance on a regular basis, but we are not allowed to provide legal advice. Notaries are appointed by the state to witness and authenticate the signing of legal documents, but they are not attorneys and are not authorized to provide legal advice or representation. Providing legal advice would be practicing law without a license, which is illegal. Notaries must always maintain a neutral and impartial position and cannot take sides or advocate for one party over another. If legal advice is needed, they should seek the services of a licensed attorney who can provide legal guidance and representation.
